Here at RAGT Seeds UK, each and every member of our team is incredibly valued with some employees having worked for us for nearly 40 years!
We catch up with Natasha Matthews, a member of our long serving staff to get an insight into her time at RAGT and to learn more about her and her role.
Having worked for us for nearly 30 years and originally joining as a Junior Secretary, we talk to Natasha Matthews our HR Manager about her time with Europe's Number One Cereal Breeder.
1. How long have you worked for RAGT?
In October, I will have been with the company for 28 years – originally with PBI/Unilever, then Monsanto and now RAGT.
2. What is your current role at RAGT and how has it evolved since you started?
My current role is H.R Manager. I joined as a Junior Secretary working for many different departments (Wheat, Barley, Analytics, Import/Export, Technical) and then promoted to P.A for the H.R Director working for the UK and the Plantations and Plant Science Group (which included countries such as Kenya, Tanzania, Malaysia, India). On sale of PBI, I worked 50% for Commercial and 50% for H.R and then during Monsanto, I progressed through the ranks of H.R – H.R Administrator, H.R Assistant, H.R Executive. I became H.R Manager for RAGT in 2005.
3. What has been your proudest moment since working for RAGT?
I was really proud of going back to college and University and getting my qualifications – Certificate in Management and Certificate in Chartered Personnel (Post-Grad), whilst doing a full-time job and going through the sale of the business from Monsanto to RAGT – it was really hard work but rewarding when it was all successfully completed.
4. What do you love the most about working for RAGT?
I love the variety of my job, but also the ‘feel’ of the company and the people that I work with – it makes for a nice place to work.
5. If you could describe RAGT in three words what would it be?
Innovative, Personable and Knowledgeable. If I could make it 4 words, I’d also add Successful!
6. What has been your career highlight at RAGT?
No particular highlight as there have been so many, but I like the fact that my role includes recruiting new people with skills, knowledge and experience to take the company forward in the industry.
7. Tell us a random fact about you!
I have a City & Guilds Diploma in Sugarcraft and am currently the Chairman for the British Sugarcraft Guild in Cambridge!
