RAGT wishes to recruit a Wheat Breeding Technician to join our established team, assisting in the breeding programme at our site in Ickleton.

Founded in 1919, RAGT Seeds Limited is a leading European plant breeder committed to developing its research and commercial position in Europe, to produce and sell seeds including wheat, barley, oilseed rape, oats, forage grass and soil health crops.


Responsibilities for this very practical position include involvement in field and glasshouse: plant husbandry, harvesting, threshing, field marking out, sowing, crossing, sample preparation, scoring, drilling and assessment of breeding material.  Indoor work includes quality analysis, seed processing and cross-team activities.

The post requires flexibility, an interest in working outside during the spring/summer/ drilling period and indoors/glasshouse for other parts of the year.  A positive attitude and the ability to work as part of a team.  You must be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn and the ability to prioritise and organise.



Position would suit an individual with GCSE in Maths, English and Science or equivalent, with good I.T skills.  Previous plant breeding/agricultural/horticultural experience is preferable but not essential.  Full training will be provided.  Individual must have a full driving licence to drive manual vehicles.


This is a permanent, full-time position, working a basic 37.0 hours per week, with weekend work and overtime required at seasonal peaks of the year.
